Crazy busy…… such is wedding season for me when it gets in full swing. Mostly good with just a touch of ick, all things in the plus column.
Last weekend was the annual Pride Parade here in town and I have to admit I can’t miss it. The best people watching possible, the love, the caring, the sharing, the diversity…… man it doesn’t get better than that!!!!!
On the less than 2 week countdown to the escape to the happy place where I will be looking for a little cottage to call my own. Timing is always tricksy when so much real estate is vacation purposed so we shall see.
Until then, the family “royal wedding” is this coming Friday. Expected temperature??? 104. Yes, that’s right 104. Our darling bride and groom have a 5 o’clock wedding ON THE ROOFTOP overlooking the Arch…. with photos before. I only hope she’s reconsidered having her hair and makeup come back before the ceremony for a touch up. (or a complete re-d0!!!) Good gravy it has been hotter than hades……. hotter really. This summer we may all just combust.
Little crafting outside of wedding tasks has been accomplished. I created two veils for the bride, one fingertip and one longer and triple layered– both lovely. I’ve made signs and dyed table runners, hemmed until I was crosseyed and pressed myself into a puddle of sweat. A little here and a little there and although I’m looking forward to the coming nuptials I’m even more looking forward to calm returning. Well, as calm as it gets.
For fun I’ve added into the mix Amy Powers darling sampler class for Big Picture Classes, the Happy Go Lucky Sampler. Little grids with happy things…… you know for a fact how much this speaks to my heart!!!!
It’s been great for me to do some embroidery that is not quite my usual style, to go a little chunkier, to be a bit more free. You can see some of my happy things, my dogs….. love…. buttons…. rainbows…. stitching…cupcakes and vintage glasses. Lots more to come but the best thing is how quickly a little square gets done, very VERY immediate gratification.
